At 3:15 pm MedStat, the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Attala Fire, Providence and Zama Volunteers were dispatched to Hwy 19 South about 4 miles South of the Hwy 14 intersection. Emergency personnel arrived on the scene to find one vehicle that had hydroplaned leaving the roadway striking a tree. This is the second time at the exact same location a driver lost control of a vehicle after a rain. The other caused a rollover on July 25th of this year. Medics transported three patients with what was said to be only minor injuries to Montfort Jones. The owner and driver of the vehicle, a Jones from Kosciusko, was traveling North on Hwy 19 with two children as passengers.

At 6:49 pm MedStat, Attala Deputies, Troopers from the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Attala Fire and Zama Volunteers responded to a one vehicle MVA on Hwy 19 South near Zama. The caller said that there were two injuries. MedStat EMS was first on scene and notified medical dispatch to check the status of the Air Transport to see if they were flying. He said they had two patients that needed to be transported to the University Medical Center. He notified responding units that one patient was still in the overturned vehicle. She was not entrapped but unable to free herself from the vehicle because of the dash. The couple were in there middle to upper 50's according to emergency personnel on scene. Plates on the Chevrolet Blaze were from Lafayette County and authorities said the couple was from Greenwood. Medics transported the patients to Montfort Jones to meet the air units for transport. The full extent of the couples injuries is unknown at this time. The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

At 12:45 pm Attala Fire, MHP and Attala Deputies responded to a report from Attala 107, Sam Bell, of a tree that fell on a power line. Bell advised that it was located on Hwy 19 South by the Microwave Tower. Emergency crews arrived on scene to find several lines on the ground with a large tree laying on one line. The tree was smoking and fire was started by the live lines on the ground. Entergy was called to repair the damage. Emergency crews stayed on scene to keep the fire contained and control traffic.

MVA Found on Hwy 19 Classements

At 11:52 pm MedStat, the Mississippi Highway Patrol along with Attala Fire and Rescue responded to a report of an MVA on Hwy 19 North at the Hwy 440 intersection. Audio Deputy Irving was first to arrive on scene and found a Toyota Corolla with heavy damage that had left the roadway striking a several trees. No one was found in or around the vehicle. Chief Williams instructed to Squad One to shine the spot light and to bring flashlights from the rescue vehicle. Audio Crews searched the area for anyone involved but no one was found. Upon investigating the accident, authorities found that the vehicle had the license plate removed. The VIN was run and no information was found on the auto. MHP Trooper D-27 searched the vehicle and found some DUI tickets belonging to a Melissa Windom. It was learned that the Windom relatives lived near the location of the accident. Audio When KOL left the scene law officials were heading to the homes of the relatives to continue the investigation.

At 3:48 pm MedStat, Attala Sheriff and Deputies, the Mississippi Highway Patrol along with Attala Fire and Rescue responded to an MVA on Hwy 19 South approximately 4 miles from Kosciusko. The caller advised it was a one vehicle MVA rollover with possible injuries. Emergency personnel arrived on scene to find a vehicle upside down in a ditch. MedStat transported one female to Montfort Jones Hospital complaining of back and left arm pain.

At 7:10 am MedStat, the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Attala Sheriff's Deputies along with Attala Fire and Rescue responded to a two vehicle MVA on Hwy 35 South and Hwy 19 intersection. The caller advised that there were injuries involved. Audio First responders arrived on scene to find one lane of traffic blocked and two vehicles with heavy damage. MedStat transported on patient to Montfort Jones Hospital priority one. The extent of their injuries are unknown at this time.

At 7:00 pm MedStat, Mississippi Highway Patrol, Attala Sheriff's Department and Attala Fire and Rescue responded to a report of a two vehicle MVA on Hwy 19 South approximately 3 miles past Hwy 14. Audio Emergency personnel arrived on scene to find two pickups off the roadway in a ditch, one hitting a tree. After medical personnel spoke with the subject and evaluated their condition no transport was given.

The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin.
