Flag Retirement Ceremony 2010. Parkway Cemetery May 31, 2010. MS American Legion Riders Post44

American Legion Patriot Riders held the first Flag Retirement Ceremony in which flags were disposed of properly atop a simulated gravesite complete with a headstone simply titled “Old Glory”.

The State Veterans Home in Kosciusko was host many important guest on Thursday. Mississippi Adjutant General William Freeman Jr along with the 168th "Task Force Storm" were among the honored guest. Kosy Online worked with the Pentagon to help bring the 168th to the event via Satellite from Afghanistan and broadcast on a big screen television allowing interaction between locations. An American Flag was hand delivered from Afghanistan to the Veterans Home. The journey the flag took was filled with a combat incident with 4 solders receiving a Purple Heart. The General also donated a replica sword that was like the one given by Napoleon to Thadeus Kosciusko. Other notables attending included Miss Mississippi, Miss KHS, the Big Red Band, American Legion Riders. The event was covered by many television crews including WLBT and WAPT. Veterans, family and friends were in attendance to honor our Veterans for their courage and patriotism in service to our country. The packed room watched as guest speakers addressed the audience and a special candle lighting ceremony was held for each branch of the Armed Forces. Afterwards the crowd was treated to refreshments including cupcakes placed in the image of Old Glory. Kosy Online would like to thank all our Veterans for their service to our Country.
