Friday, May 1, 2009 - KOSCIUSKO, MS - The Mississippi State Veterans Home in Kosciusko was host to a special luncheon in honor of Lt. Governor Phil Bryant. After the luncheon the Lt. Governor addressed the Home%u2019s Residents, Staff, and City Officials regarding continuation of quality care for these men and women who sacrificed so much for us. He expressed praise and for the local and state support of the Home. Brother Barry Corbett, Minister for Kosciusko%u2019s First Baptist Church, led the opening prayer. The program included a formal military color guard after which the National Anthem was sung by Mrs. Jackie Winters, an LPN at the Home. Colonel Donald Sims recognized special guests in the audience which included: Kosciusko%u2019s City Officials: Mayor Jimmy Cockroft; KADC President Steve Zea; Board of Aldermen: Mrs. Martha Kate Lawrence, Mr. Henry Daniel and Mr. Tim Kyle. Board of Supervisors included: Mr. Eddie Womble, Mr. Tim Pinkard, Mr. Charles Fancher and Mr. Kary Ellington. The members of the State Veterans Affairs Board who were present were: Ms. Jo Leslie, Chairperson of the Board; Mr. Doyle Bailey, 2nd Congressional District Board Member; Mr. Adrian Grice, Executive Director; Mr. Eric Jordan, Nursing Home Coordinator; Mr. Dorris Ricks, Safety Director and Mr. Eric Omersa, Financial Department. Mrs. Sheri Roebuck, Administrator of the facility, would like to express her gratitude to the Lt. Governor for taking his time to come to visit with the Veterans. Roebuck shares in his enthusiasm for providing the best for our Veterans and relays the message to her staff to %u201CCare for those Who Cared for Us.%u201D
